We strive to empower rural, poor and marginalized communities to conserve and utilize natural resources for their sustainable development and livelihood. We partner with government institutions, local and international NGOs and community leaders and groups in providing training, support and consultancy in matters related to community participation, environmental sustainability education and community development.
Local Community Empowerment for Conservation
One of the persistent limitations for effective conservation in rural areas in Tanzania and sub Saharan Africa has been the shortage of qualified local conservation professionals. In 2019, we have been collaborating with local organization, authorities and institutions to empower village leaders and community members on sustainable conservation practices for the forest reserve.

Restoring ecological habitat for endangered bird Anthus sokokensis
In 2017 we started a 5 years project to restore ecological habitat endangered bird Sokoke pipit(Anthus sokokensis). We conducted Sokoke Pipit bird census to establish the current population size in the study site, of which according to IUCN Red List of threatened species, the birds’ population in Ruvu-Coastal Forest Reserve is not known. The project l also assessed the conditions of forest floor which is a critical ecological habitat for the endangered Sokoke bird. Information on forest floor alterations, modifications, rate of forest exploitation, density and distribution of Brachystegia tree species was examined using standard forest survey methods.
